Bio-sorption of copper and lead ions in single and binary systems onto banana peels

It is very rare to have the ions of only one metal ion in wastewater. Hence, removal copper and lead from aqueous solution single binary systems using natural banana peels was investigated a batch mode. Banana were characterised FTIR, which gave functional groups present. The spectra loaded with Pb(II) had higher percentage transmittance after adsorption. point zero charge pHpzc peel found be 4.83 makes it suitable for adsorption cations. Kinetic isotherm studies carried out at pH 5.5, concentration range 10–100 mg/L, adsorbent dosage 0.1–1 g. A pseudo-second order model fitted kinetic data suggesting chemical Langmuir performed well experimental means occurred as monolayer on surface peels. maximum capacity 66.67 mg/g. This indicated that system more affinity than Cu(II). At concentrations, study showed effect competitive phenomenon affected Cu(II) system. Natural are efficient agricultural waste materials can used treatment wastewater contaminated ions.
